Wait, What? Defunct, You Say?
11 10 2007DATELINE TWO DAYS AGO:
The Arena Football League has announced that the Nashville Kats and Austin Wranglers won’t be AFL teams in 2008. While we had limited love for either organization, it’s kind of a bummer when a city loses a team. Austin will be fielding an af2 team (Relegation! My favorite kind of -ation!), but Nashville is going to the level of the afterlife reserved for fruity-logoed sports teams. Nashville also has the honor of being the only team that focused on the run in 2007. Possibly because their offensive coordinator had a massive head wound.
It’s true - we suck at keeping updated in the offseason. For my part: mea culpa. Mea maxima culpa. Confiteor omnibus Sanctis, et vobis, fratres (et tibi pater), quia peccavi.
More to come, I swear to it.
This also puts Nashville in the not-as-elite-as-you-may-think company of cities which have seen AFL teams shut down/depart more than once.
(See also: Washington, Detroit, Denver, NYC, the ever-popular vague “New England”, and New Orleans.)
I’m not going to look up that Latin jive. I’m just going to assume that you stole it from “Two Cathedrals.” Prove me wrong, TC!
Is this gonna Kill You? No i Dont Think so !
